WES Litter Sweep
The Litter Sweep at WES will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. Bring out the whole family to help keep the Weatherstone Campus safe and litter-free. We provide gloves, stylish vests, litter grabbers, and garbage bags. You provide smiles and enthusiasm and receive the satisfaction of helping our school be a safe and attractive place to learn and play.
If you have any questions about the event, please contact TJ Cawley at (919) 539-9683 or TJCawley@hotmail.com.
Advocacy – Our Advocacy chair will be responsible for informing our membership about education issues and NCPTA legislative goals. For more information about this role, please visit here.
Cultural Arts Co-chair/Trainee – We are seeking a co-chair/trainee that will be trained to lead the 2017-2018 school year. The Artists in Schools program is a partnership between the United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County, WCPSS, and local schools. For more than 30 years, the AIS program has placed professional artists in public, private, and charter schools in Wake County. These artists and arts organizations work as creative educational resources with faculty students, and cultural arts representatives to implement curriculum-based arts in education programs. We have had many exciting artists visit Weatherstone Elementary through this program, so it is a wonderful way to help engage and expose the kids to many forms of art! For more information, please contact Catherine at email@example.com.
Membership– The membership chair will be responsible for building our PTA membership base at the start of the school year with a theme, membership drive for parents & staff, and they will be responsible for entering membership info into the NCPTA database, printing/distributing membership cards, as well as keeping a current roster. Because membership dues are involved, writing up membership deposits for the Treasurer are required, and these need to be done on campus often during the first few months of school. This position would be best for a stay at home parent or someone with flex time because writing deposits could potentially take time and must be done at school.
Room Parent Coordinator – The Room Parent Coordinator will offer training for all new Room Parents and will be a point of contact for room parent questions. They will also scan the staff “Pamper Me” handouts to be displayed on the website as well as in a book located at school. For more information about this position, please contact Carin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Secretary – The Secretary is responsible for keeping all the important documents of the PTA such as the roster, insurance policies, contracts, minutes, audit reports, and tax returns. The secretary takes minutes of all meetings, gets them to the board promptly, and is responsible for maintaining the PTA calendar. Secretary records need to be neatly organized and ready to view at all times.
Treasurer – The Treasurer deposits funds and writes checks for PTA expenses. The treasurer maintains all financial records of income and expenses in Quickbooks and meets with the audit committee for a monthly review of bank statements. The treasurer presents a financial report of income and expenses at board meetings and general meetings, pays dues to the NCPTA, prepares a year-end financial report, and facilitates the filing of all tax forms. No accounting experience is needed, but organizational skills are key.
