School Store

The Weatherstone School Store has been in “business” since 2009.  Started by AG teacher, Donna Lubus, the store has been a valuable school program that is a hands on learning experience for our kids.

Throughout the school year the store is open to students, parents, and staff every Wednesday and Friday from 8:45-9:10 in the art room.  Items for sale include erasers, pencils, notebooks, and a lot of other fun school related supplies- all ranging in price from 5 cents to $1.50.

The store is run as an actual business by the 5th grade students.  At the beginning of the school year managers are elected to run the various departments of the store.  From there the kids conduct market surveys of all WES students and staff and then use the surveys to purchase inventory to sell at the store.  A website is designed to show what merchandise is available at the store.  Advertising throughout the year includes producing commercials and airing them in the school, displaying signage at carpool dropoff, and showcasing items in the fabulous display case across from the front office at the school!  The kids who work at the store practice their customer service skills by assisting shoppers and sharpen math skills by making change.  The Explorer Store teaches students about accountability, responsibility, and collaborating as a team!

All profits from the Explorer Store goes toward school improvements and the 5th grade class gift to the school.

Please come check us out and see the great learning our kids do… and the fun they have buying!
