Edible Garden

Edible Garden

During the 2016-17 school year Weatherstone Elementary began the process of building an edible school garden. This garden will enhance our STEM curriculum and provide tangible hands on learning experiences. Students can learn about site planning, sustainable planting methods, organisms, growth cycles, environmental stewardship, and so much more. Moreover, the garden and its harvest, is hoped to foster meaningful relationships with our neighboring community and local food banks.  For more info click here.

Where does the produce go?

Summer: Over the summer, we were able to donate a substantial amount of produce to the local Dorcas food bank. They were thrilled to add fresh fruit and veggies to their food options.

School Year: The harvest will go to Backpack buddies, teaching instruction, and the local food bank.
